LONDON, ON—April 30, 2010—Microtronix, a leading producer of highly integrated video imaging and intellectual property (IP) development solutions, today announced the release of their new Lancero Scatter-Gather DMA Engine for PCI Express for Altera® FPGA's incorporating PCI Express Hard IP cores. The kit provides the IP and Linux software drivers to implement a bidirectional Scatter-Gather Direct Memory Access (DMA) Engine for PCI Express interfaces on Linux host computer systems.

The Lancero Design Kit offers a complete end-to-end hardware IP core and software driver package for exchanging full-duplex, high bandwidth streaming data over PCI Express. It leverages the Altera Avalon bus architecture to provide design engineers with an off-the-shelf, easy to use building block solution for interfacing high speed peripherals to Linux host computer systems. Applications include: medical and print imaging; wireless radio; high bandwidth data acquisition and logging; NAS solid state and memory storage systems; video surveillance, video capture, graphics frame-buffer overlays and digital signage.

“By packaging a powerful Scatter-Gather DMA Engine, a PCIe Bridge with Linux drivers, the Lancero Design Kit streamlines the engineering design task of adding high bandwidth peripherals into embedded systems.” said Norman McCall, president of Microtronix. "Using the supplied reference designs with the supporting Microtronix and Altera's IP cores, customers can significantly reduce their deign risk and time to market.”
