Product Details

The Microtronix XOT-TCP/IP Gateway Software Application is a stand-alone daemon running on any Linux system. Standard TCP/IP socket interfaces bridge between user applications and remote XOT routers or X.25 gateways connected to remote X.25 hosts. More than one application may use the XOT Gateway, and each application can open multiple TCP sockets.

RFC1613, X.25 over TCP (XOT) Encapsulation Protocol is used for transporting X.25 traffic over IP networks.

When application message boundaries must be preserved, the XOT Gateway provides methods like RFC1006 ISO Transport Services, and Cisco RBP towards the user application so that accurate X.25 data (de)packetization will ensue.

The XOT Gateway targets Telco BSS (billing) and OSS (OA&MP) system conversion from X.25 to TCP/IP networking.

An intuitive web-based GUI accessible via standard browser (local or remote) provides easy configuration, monitoring, and management of the XOT Gateway.

Product Highlights

  • TCP to X.25, and X.25 to TCP routing tables support:
    • Client applications (initiator), routing from TCP/IP to XOT
    • Server applications (listener), routing from XOT to TCP/IP
  • RFC1006 (ISO Transport Services over TCP) for message preservation to internal user application
  • Web-based GUI for configuration, monitoring, and management
  • Installation Technical Support

Other Software Features

The XOT Gateway Software Application fully implements the RFC1613 XOT Encapsulation Protocol including.

  • Called and calling X.25 address selection for switched virtual circuits (SVC)
  • Permanent virtual circuit (PVC) selection
  • Packet and window size negotiation
  • 1024 logical channels (expandable to 4096)

XOT-TCP/IP Gateway Application Example

For client applications (initiator), routing for TCP/IP to XOT is provided. The XOT Gateway listens for TCP connection requests from the application and generates an XOT connection to a remote XOT router connected to an X.25 host. The outbound XOT connection setup is two-stage. First a TCP socket is established to the XOT router, then, an X.25 Call Request is generated and sent over the TCP socket using XOT encapsulation.

For server applications (listener), routing for XOT to TCP/IP is provided. The XOT Gateway listens for XOT connection requests from the remote XOT router and generates a TCP connection towards a listening server application. The inbound XOT connection setup is two-stage. First a TCP socket from the XOT router is established, then, waits for an X.25 Incoming Call received over the TCP socket using XOT encapsulation. The XOT socket and X.25 Incoming Call parameters are used to route the new connection to a matching application TCP.
