Microtronix Introduces Camera Link Aligner IP Core Solution for Altera’s FPGAs

LONDON, Ontario, Monday, May 11, 2015 — Microtronix, an established developer of high-performance intellectual property (IP) cores and FPGA products, introduced a new Camera Link Aligner IP Core for supporting Medium and Full Camera Link configurations. The core targets a wide range of consumer, industrial, and military frame grabber and image conversion systems. The Camera Link Aligner IP Core offers system integrators a flexible design solution which can be configured to support a wide variety of camera resolutions and data formats. The core is supported with a hardware Design Kit and can be implemented in Altera’s Cyclone™ V, Arria™ V and Stratix™ IV/V FPGA devices. .

The Microtronix Camera Link Aligner IP Core is designed for building vision systems incorporating Camera Link communication interfaces for Medium and Full Channel Link systems in 64-bit and 80-bit configurations. he core performs Alignment of links in Medium and Full Configurations to compensate for different propagation delays between links. The IP Core maps the bits from the LVDS data streams into the 8 bit ports defined in the Camera Link Specification.

The Camera Link core is designed for building Frame Grabber (receiver) devices. It supports camera control signals, bi-directional serial Camera Link communication, and video data. A supporting Altera Quartus® II software configuration GUI streamlines the design implementation process. The use of Altera’s TimeQuest timing analyzer with the supplied design constraint file enables designers to achieve timing closure and design fit over temperature, power and voltage to ensure a stable and reliable end product.
